During the Summer University 2023, the regional TV station “DKSyd” from Sønderborg visited us at the educational institution Knivsberg and conducted several interviews with the students and organizers. For one week, more than 40 students from twelve nations discussed aspects of security and insecurity in a European border region with six scientists from Denmark and Germany under the title “Borders as (In)Security Spaces”.
The team from “Beton TV”, the university’s own TV team at Syddansk Universitet, also shot a short video about the summer university in 2013 that captures the impressions of the intercultural togetherness.
Titled “Unions of the North. From Margarethe to the EU,” the 2013 Summer University traced the arc from the Kalmar Union to contemporary European and Nordic cooperation. The focus was not only on the development of the relationship between the Scandinavian states, but also with their southern neighbor.
